How To Punch

When you’re practicing any style of martial arts or self defence program then probably the most important techniques which everyone must study is how to punch properly plus how to generate power so that you can punch an opponent hard and fast. Of course there are a multitude of different techniques which you could use , but there are also a few universal principles which you can apply that will assist you with the majority of them , and so that’s the subject of the current article which I have put together for anyone who wishes to learn how to punch harder .

One important factor which readers must think about before any attempt to increase punching power is that you should not forget about precision . You might feel that strength is all important and that if you is able to hit someonehard then you will always hurt them , but you could actually find you’re hurting your own hand even more . supposing that you strike an adversary hard on their forehead with your fist, in the normal way , then you are fairly likely to break the joints in your knuckles, and you’re overwhelmingly unlikely to cause them any real harm let alone any injury that will win a fight . On the other hand, if you strike someone right on the snozzle then there is a good chance that you will hurt them a fair bit even if you don’t punch them especially Powerfully . Hitting with your palm can help to reduce the problem , but you should be careful to still throw a proper strike with the heel of the palm, and not a slap that might Ehurt but won’t do much to win you the confrontation .

When you learn how to punch harder you should be aware of your whole body, starting from the feet and working upwards . Your feet would ideally be in the most solid stance that is available.   Visualize yourself standing on a perfect square, with your feet at opposing corners so there is an equal separation front to back as left to right . Push yourself forwards with your rear leg as you throw your punch , stepping forwards if it is possible or else using this force to twist your body into the strike .

Remember to keep your whole body as loose and relaxed as possible , because this serves to eliminate counter-force and increase Epower and speed , and only tense all of your muscles when you land the punch.  

And the most important tip of the lot -  do not forget about protecting yourself , even when attacking! While you are actually punching yourself you’re more vulnerable than any other time as it’s more difficult to evade an attack and you are at greater risk of being floored if you are hit. Make sure to keep your opposing hand in a guard position and if you can then tuck your chin down behind the inside of the shoulder of your punching arm as a defense .
